Mumbai :- Daily commuters at Marine Lines Railway Station have voiced strong dissatisfaction after drinking water facilities on Platforms 2 and 3, located near the staircase area, were removed to make way for a proposed commercial juice stall.
Regular passengers said the clean drinking water point, which served thousands every day, was recently dismantled without prior notice. The move has triggered widespread outrage among travelers who rely on the facility during their daily journeys.
“Instead of enhancing passenger amenities, the authorities are replacing essential services with commercial stalls. This is completely unfair to daily travellers,” said a frequent commuter.
Passengers have appealed to the General Manager of Western Railway and the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mumbai, urging them to halt the juice stall project and immediately restore the public drinking water facility.
Commuters stressed that access to drinking water is a basic necessity, not a profit-making opportunity, and called on railway officials to prioritize public welfare over commercial interests.
