Mumbai — Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has stirred controversy with her latest statement, claiming that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim is not a terrorist and has been wrongly accused of involvement in the Mumbai bomb blasts.
Speaking to media, Kulkarni said, “Dawood is not a terrorist. He has been framed by political forces and the media.” She further clarified that she has never met him personally and has no connection with any criminal network.
Kulkarni, who has largely stayed away from the limelight for years, resurfaced recently after embracing a spiritual path. She has previously been linked to legal cases, including allegations in a drug trafficking case, but has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Her remarks have triggered sharp reactions on social media, with many questioning the intent and timing of her statement. Legal experts note that such comments could invite scrutiny, given Dawood Ibrahim’s designation as an international terrorist by Indian and global agencies.
As of now, there has been no official response from law enforcement or government authorities to her comments. However, her statement has reignited debate around the underworld figure’s legacy and ongoing investigations.
