Mumbai: A severe traffic jam on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway caused significant disruptions for commuters on Friday, leading to long delays and frustration among travelers. The congestion, which stretched for several kilometers, was attributed to a combination of heavy vehicle volume, ongoing construction work, and a minor accident near the Khalapur toll plaza.
Authorities were deployed to manage the situation, but the slow-moving traffic persisted for hours, affecting both private vehicles and buses. Many passengers took to social media to express their inconvenience, with some reporting delays of over two to three hours.
The Mumbai-Pune Expressway is one of the busiest routes in Maharashtra, connecting the two major cities. Traffic officials advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes if possible.
Police and highway patrol teams are working to clear the backlog and ensure smoother movement of vehicles. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
