Mumbai :– The foot overbridge (FOB) at Mahim railway station has been closed for public use due to safety concerns, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The decision comes after a structural audit raised doubts about the bridge’s stability.
Authorities have advised commuters to use alternative routes to cross the railway tracks. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and railway officials are assessing the need for repairs or a complete reconstruction of the bridge.
A senior railway official stated, “Public safety is our top priority. The bridge has been shut as a precautionary measure, and we urge passengers to cooperate.”
Local commuters have expressed inconvenience but acknowledged the necessity of the move. Further updates on restoration work will be announced soon.
