Mumbai : Maharashtra’s Information Technology and Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar has announced that 75 villages across the state will be developed as “smart villages” under a new pilot project.
The initiative will be launched during the Seva Pakhwada (September 17 – October 2) and will provide facilities like high-speed internet, Wi-Fi, and AI-based services to rural communities.
Minister Shelar said the project aims to equip the new generation with modern technology and skill development opportunities. He directed the IT Department to actively implement the “@75” concept in these villages.
Alongside technological upgrades, the Cultural Affairs Department will organize community activities, including cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, book exhibitions, art competitions, and cultural programs with local folk artists.
The announcement was made at a review meeting attended by senior officials, including IT Principal Secretary Parag Jain Nainutia and Film City MD Swati Mhase-Patil.
