Mumbai: In a surprising political development, MNS chief Raj Thackeray met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence in Malabar Hill on Thursday, sparking widespread speculation.
Accompanied by his close aide and former minister Bala Nandgaonkar, Raj Thackeray reportedly held a 45-minute discussion with Fadnavis, just a day after the disastrous results of the 2025 BEST Employees’ Co-operative Credit Society elections.
The Thackeray-Uddhav alliance, contesting under the Utkarsh panel, failed to secure a single seat out of 21, while the Shashank Rao-led panel swept 14 seats and the Mahayuti-backed Sahakar Samruddhi group managed seven. The result marks a major embarrassment for the Thackerays, denting their credibility ahead of the crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
BJP leader Prasad Lad seized the moment to mock the Thackerays on social media, stating, “The bosses of the brand couldn’t win a single seat. We showed them their place.”
While the agenda of Raj Thackeray’s meeting with Fadnavis remains undisclosed, political analysts suggest it could indicate a recalibration of his strategy or a potential thaw in relations with the BJP. Uddhav Thackeray has not commented on the development.
