Akola : In a significant breakthrough in the Akola district, the local police have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of goats from a livestock shed in Rajanapur Khinkhni village, Murtizapur taluka. The accused, identified as Ajim Shah alias Bablū, was apprehended following a protracted investigation.

The case was registered after complainant Anil Sable reported that eight goats and one billy goat—collectively valued at approximately ₹63,000—had been stolen from his pen. Due to the absence of CCTV surveillance in the area, the investigation posed considerable challenges.

Based on confidential lead information, police traced the suspect to Takar Khed, Amravati district. During the arrest, authorities recovered seven of the stolen goats, valued at around ₹50,000, along with the Tata S vehicle used in the theft.

The operation was led by officers from the M-section of the Akola Crime Branch under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Archit Chandak, Upper SP Chandrakant Reddy, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vaishali Mule. On the ground, the arrest and recovery were carried out by Inspector Shankar Shelke, Station House Officer Ganesh Navkar, Sub-Inspector Ganesh Mahajan, Head Constable Deepak Solanke, and Constable Akash Kale.

The suspect has been remanded to judicial custody for one day. While a portion of the stolen livestock has been recovered, investigations are ongoing to ascertain the fate of any remaining missing animals and trace any resale chain.
