In a major move to enhance administrative efficiency and improve the lives of citizens across the state, the Maharashtra Cabinet has approved ten key policy decisions spanning agriculture, urban development, judiciary, education, and employee welfare. These measures aim to ease financial burdens, improve institutional functioning, and promote inclusive growth.
Farmers will benefit directly from the exemption of registration fees for partition deeds of agricultural land, easing property transfers and lowering costs in rural areas. Urban bodies too will receive support, as the state commits to disbursing GST compensation grants to municipal corporations, ensuring better service delivery and urban infrastructure development.
On the employment and education front, the government has sanctioned the establishment of an Ekalavya Vocational Training Center in Pen to boost skill development among youth, and approved a new policy for appointing part-time school directors to enhance academic oversight. In the judicial system, the addition of new typist posts for judicial officers will help streamline administrative tasks in courts.
In other decisions, land allotment terms for the Nagpur Press Club have been revised to enable infrastructural development, and the organizational structure of the Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM Ltd.) has been updated to improve internal operations. Additionally, the Minister of Marketing has been appointed ex-officio chairperson of the MAGNET project to strengthen leadership in agricultural business initiatives.
Further, certain posts in the agriculture department will be renamed to reflect contemporary roles more accurately, aligning with administrative modernization efforts. Finally, employees of the Maharashtra Handloom Corporation will receive long-pending arrears as per the Sixth Pay Commission, acknowledging their contributions and providing overdue financial relief.
These ten reforms collectively reflect the government’s commitment to good governance, rural and urban advancement, and institutional accountability.
