Mumbai, May 30, 2025 — Leena Tewari, chairperson of USV Pharmaceuticals, has set a national real estate record with her ₹703 crore purchase of two lavish sea-facing duplex apartments in Mumbai’s upscale Worli area. The deal makes it the most expensive residential transaction in India’s history.

The acquisition includes apartments on the 32nd and 35th floors of the 40-storey Naman Xana tower. Together, the duplexes span a massive 22,572 sq. ft. and cost ₹639 crore, with an additional ₹63.9 crore paid in stamp duty and GST.

Tewari, one of India’s wealthiest women and a low-profile business leader, heads USV Pharmaceuticals, a company renowned for producing key medications like Glycomet, Ecosprin, and Roseday—essential drugs for managing diabetes and heart conditions.

Her latest acquisition not only showcases her personal wealth but also underlines Mumbai’s soaring luxury real estate demand, especially in premium sea-facing localities like Worli. With prices in top-tier developments continuing to climb, this transaction sets a new benchmark for India’s ultra-luxury housing market.
