Kalyan Residents Raise Alarm Over Uncovered Manholes; KDMC Yet to Act

Share:

Mumbai :- In a serious lapse of civic responsibility, several manholes in Kalyan remain uncovered, including those on main drainage lines, posing a significant threat to the safety of pedestrians and commuters. Despite repeated complaints and assurances from Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) officials, no concrete action has been taken to fix the issue.

Locals report that these open manholes have turned into death traps, especially during rains, when they become nearly invisible. The danger is heightened in crowded residential areas and near schools, where children and the elderly are at constant risk.

Frustrated residents allege that the municipal corporation has ignored warnings, even though similar incidents in other parts of the state have led to severe injuries and fatalities. Civic activists have demanded immediate intervention, stressing that waiting any longer could lead to a major accident.

As the monsoon intensifies, the public is urging KDMC to act swiftly and cover all exposed drainage points to prevent avoidable tragedies.
