Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren Passes Away in Delhi, CM Hemant Soren Expresses Grief

Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren passed away on August 15, 2025, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Delhi. He was 62.

Soren had suffered a severe brain injury after slipping in the bathroom at his Jamshedpur residence on August 2. Following the incident, he was airlifted to Delhi, where he remained on life support. Despite continuous treatment, his condition did not improve.

Born in 1963, Soren represented the Ghatsila constituency and was serving his second term as an MLA. In December 2024, he was inducted into the Hemant Soren-led Cabinet as the Minister of School Education and Literacy. Known for his simplicity and grassroots connect, his political career began at the village level before rising to the state leadership.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed deep sorrow over the demise, describing it as “an irreparable loss” for the state. Tributes have poured in from across Jharkhand’s political spectrum, with leaders remembering him as a committed public servant dedicated to improving education in the state.

The untimely death of Ramdas Soren has left a significant void in Jharkhand politics and the education sector.
