Jagdeep Dhankhar Resigns as Vice President of India Citing Health Reasons

New Delhi: Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, has officially resigned from his post on July 21, 2025, citing health concerns. Dhankhar had been serving as the 14th Vice President since 2022.

Prior to assuming the Vice Presidency, Dhankhar held the office of Governor of West Bengal from 2019 until 2022. He resigned from that post ahead of his nomination for the Vice Presidential role.

His resignation has triggered discussions in political circles regarding the selection of his successor.
