ITR Deadline Extended to Sept 15, But It’s Not for Everyone

Share:

The Income Tax Department has given some breathing room — the ITR filing deadline for FY 2024–25 has been extended to September 15, 2025, but only for certain salaried individuals.

📌 Who gets the benefit?
Salaried people who aren’t into business or professional activities — you’re likely in the clear.

⚠️ Who doesn’t?
If you have higher income or run a business/profession, your deadline may still be July 31 or September 30 depending on your category. So, check what applies to you before relaxing.

🧾 Important:
Even if your filing deadline moved, tax payments are still due by July 31. Miss that, and you’re looking at interest and penalties.

💡 Pro tip: The department suggests waiting until after June 15 to file. By then, all key documents like Form 26AS and AIS will be fully updated — which means fewer mistakes, quicker refunds.

📉 And yes, if you get a refund, the interest you earn on it? That’s taxable. Don’t forget to include it when you file.
