Mumbai, September 14: Shiv Sena (UBT) workers, led by party spokesperson Anand Dubey, staged a fierce protest in Mumbai on Sunday against the upcoming India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match in Dubai. Protesters smashed television sets and raised slogans against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Modi government, accusing them of “insulting the Sindoor of our sisters” by allowing the high-profile clash.
Women workers participated in the demonstration carrying Sindoor as a symbol of protest. Dubey told IANS, “We oppose the India-Pakistan match being held in Dubai. There is no need for this match today. The Indian government must reconsider its decision and direct BCCI accordingly.”
Slamming Pakistan as a “state sponsor of terrorism,” Dubey said India should cut all ties with its neighbour. He added that the party was sending “donations” to the BCCI to “teach it a lesson” and urged Prime Minister Modi to stop the match.
The leader further questioned, “How will sisters and mothers, who lost their loved ones in Pahalgam, watch this match?”
Appealing to Indian cricketers, Dubey urged them to boycott the fixture, assuring them of public support if they did so. “If these players boycott, we will welcome them with open arms. If they don’t, we will condemn them for continuing with the game,” he warned.
Despite protests, the India-Pakistan encounter is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 6:30 p.m. UAE time (8:00 p.m. IST).
