Navi Mumbai, June 7, 2025:-

In a major breakthrough, the Navi Mumbai Police have solved the sensational ATM robbery that took place in Sanpada on May 31, involving the theft of ₹31.73 lakh. Eight suspects have been arrested from Bengaluru, and police believe the crime was orchestrated with insider assistance.

The victim, Mohammad Ramees Idavlath, a 25-year-old angadia (cash courier), was depositing cash into an SBI ATM kiosk in Juinagar around 7:45 AM when the meticulously planned heist unfolded. A man posing as a police officer confronted Ramees, accusing him of carrying unaccounted money and demanded he accompany him for questioning.

Moments later, six more accomplices arrived in a grey Maruti Ertiga SUV. They forcibly bundled Ramees into the vehicle, assaulted him, and snatched the bag containing the cash. He was eventually dumped near Palm Beach Road, bruised and without the money.

According to Navi Mumbai police officials, insider knowledge played a critical role in the heist. The suspects had detailed information about the victim’s routine, cash-carrying schedule, and the ATM location — pointing to someone with direct access to operational data.

A team from the Crime Branch tracked the accused to Bengaluru, where they had been laying low. A coordinated operation led to the arrest of all eight men, and authorities are now interrogating them to determine the full extent of the conspiracy and identify the insider who tipped them off.

The swift resolution of the case has been hailed by senior police officials as a testament to cross-state coordination and meticulous investigative work. Further details, including the recovery of stolen cash and possible involvement of additional individuals, are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
