At the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the India Women’s Cricket Team put up a commanding total of 298 for 7 in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final against South Africa.

Opener Shafali Verma led from the front with a blistering 87 off 78 balls, while Deepti Sharma added a crucial 58 to strengthen the innings. India’s top and middle order ensured steady scoring, giving the team a solid total to defend in this high-stakes clash.

In response, South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt anchored the chase with a superb century, setting a new tournament record for the most runs scored by a batter in a single edition. However, India’s bowlers kept the pressure on, taking timely wickets to stay in control.

A brilliant direct hit from Amanjot Kaur dismissed Tazmin Brits, while Shafali Verma stunned everyone by claiming two key wickets in one over.

As the game entered the final overs, South Africa were 183 for 5 after 35 overs, still needing 116 runs from 90 balls to lift their maiden World Cup trophy. The contest remains delicately poised, promising a thrilling finish to the championship.
