The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the Konkan region and the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, forecasting heavy rainfall from August 26 to 28. This follows the formation of a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, which is expected to enhance monsoon activity across the state .

While Pune is anticipated to experience light to moderate showers, districts such as Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are likely to receive intense rainfall during this period. The IMD has cautioned that the saturated soil conditions from previous rains could lead to localized flooding, landslides, and disruptions in transportation .

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed through official weather updates, avoid venturing into waterlogged zones, and exercise caution while traveling. Authorities have been alerted to monitor the situation closely and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks.
