Mumbai, July 7, 2025 – Suburban train services on Mumbai’s Harbour Line were restored on Monday afternoon following a 13-hour suspension caused by the derailment of a Track Recording Trolley (TRT) near Nerul station late Sunday night.
The incident brought services between Mankhurd and Belapur to a standstill, creating major inconvenience for thousands of daily commuters during peak morning hours. Passengers faced long delays and overcrowded platforms as railway authorities launched an overnight operation to clear the derailed equipment and carry out urgent track repairs.
Central Railway officials confirmed that normal train operations resumed around 1:30 PM after the affected section underwent complete restoration and safety checks. An official investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the derailment.
This is the second major service disruption on Mumbai’s suburban rail network within a week, prompting renewed concerns over infrastructure upkeep and passenger safety.
