Tension gripped Bareilly on Friday after unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire outside the residence of Bollywood actress Disha Patani in the Civil Lines area. At the time of the incident, her father, retired DSP Jagdish Patani, mother, and sister Khushboo Patani were at home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Soon after, the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang claimed responsibility through a social media post, alleging that the firing was in retaliation for alleged remarks by Khushboo Patani against spiritual leaders Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. The gang called the attack a “trailer” and warned of harsher action if such incidents occur again.
Police have recovered empty cartridges from the spot, lodged an FIR, and launched a probe. Security around the Patani residence has been tightened, and special teams have been formed to trace the assailants.
Disha Patani, currently away from her hometown, has not issued any statement, while authorities continue to investigate the gang’s threats.
