GST 2.0: Everyday Items Get Cheaper, But No Relief on LPG Cylinder Prices

India’s new GST 2.0 system came into effect on September 22, bringing significant changes to tax rates on daily-use products. The new regime simplifies slabs to 5% and 18%, while luxury and sin goods continue to attract a 40% tax.

Several essentials such as ghee, paneer, butter, ice cream, jams, pickles, and dry fruits have now become cheaper under the revised GST.

However, there is no change in LPG cylinder prices.

Domestic LPG cylinders will continue to attract 5% GST.

Commercial LPG cylinders for restaurants and businesses remain under the 18% GST bracket.

Thus, while many household staples see price reductions, LPG remains unaffected by the GST 2.0 reforms
