Global times under fire: India demands facts over fiction

News: On May 6, 2025, India launched “Operation Sindoor,” a series of airstrikes targeting nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation was in response to a terrorist attack on April 22 that killed 26 Indian tourists in Kashmir, allegedly linked to Pakistan-based militant groups.

Pakistan condemned the strikes as violations of its sovereignty and claimed to have downed multiple Indian fighter jets in retaliation. The situation escalated with artillery exchanges along the Line of Control, resulting in civilian casualties on both sides.

Global Times’ Misinformation

Following the strikes, China’s state-run Global Times reported that the Pakistan Air Force had shot down Indian fighter jets in response to India’s airstrikes. The report cited “sources from the Pakistani military” and claimed it was the third Indian jet downed .

The Indian Embassy in Beijing swiftly refuted these claims, labeling them as “disinformation” and urging the Global Times to verify facts before publishing such reports.
