Mumbai, June 2, 2025 :-
Maharashtra’s political scene is abuzz after BJP leader and Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan hinted at an imminent split within the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction. The speculation follows a high-profile meeting between Sudhakar Badgujar, a senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader from Nashik, and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Speaking to the media, Mahajan said,
“Shiv Sena (UBT) is falling apart. In the next eight days, you’ll see who stays with Uddhav Thackeray and who decides to leave.”
He also targeted Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, accusing him of causing internal damage to the party, adding that Raut alone is enough to bring the faction down.
While Badgujar maintains the meeting was to discuss civic issues in Nashik, its political overtones—coming just ahead of key local body elections—have sparked speculation of possible defections to the BJP.
What This Could Mean:
•A possible realignment of local power dynamics, especially in Nashik
•Potential weakening of Uddhav Thackeray’s grip over his party ahead of elections
•Increased friction between Shiv Sena (UBT) leadership and those seen as fence-sitters
Political analysts are closely watching the next few days for signs of shifting loyalties, as Maharashtra’s pre-election landscape grows increasingly fluid.
