Mumbai : A major fugitive in an attempt-to-murder case was finally arrested by the Hill Line police in Ulhasnagar, Thane district. The accused, Akshay Suresh Gaikwad, also known as Babu, had been on the run since April last year.
Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team tracked him to his hideout and swiftly apprehended him. Officials confirmed that Gaikwad has a long criminal record, with over 20 cases registered against him, including assault, extortion, and offences under the Maharashtra Police Act.
The arrest brings an end to a months-long search and is being hailed as a significant success for the Thane police force.
