R.T. Deshmukh, popularly known as Jija Deshmukh and a former Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Majalgaon, died in a tragic car accident on May 26, 2025. The incident occurred near Belkund on the Tuljapur-Ausa highway in Latur district when the SUV he was traveling in overturned after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
Deshmukh sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Sahyadri Hospital in Latur. Despite emergency treatment, he was declared dead on arrival. His sudden death has sent shockwaves across Beed and Latur districts.
A senior BJP leader, Deshmukh was elected to the Maharashtra Assembly in 2014 from Majalgaon in Beed district. He was a close associate of the late BJP stalwart Gopinath Munde and was respected for his grassroots leadership and commitment to regional development.
Condolences poured in from political leaders, colleagues, and citizens alike, who remembered Deshmukh as a dedicated public servant whose contributions left a lasting imprint on the state’s political and social fabric.
