Fires in Andheri and Worli: No Civilian Casualties, Probe Underway

Mumbai, May 26 — Two separate fire incidents were reported in Mumbai over the past few days, triggering quick responses from the fire department. Thankfully, no civilian casualties were reported in either case.

Andheri East — Jyoti Hotel Fire

Early Monday morning, a fire broke out at Jyoti Hotel in the Chakala area of Andheri East, reportedly due to a short circuit on the sixth floor. Fire brigade teams deployed five vehicles and successfully rescued several trapped guests. The blaze was brought under control swiftly, and no injuries were reported.

The hotel management has not issued a public statement yet, and an official investigation is ongoing. Viral videos of the fire circulated widely across social media.

Worli — Bharat Bazar Showroom Blaze

The second incident occurred around 4:45 am on Friday, May 23, at the Marshal Showroom in Bharat Bazar, Gandhi Nagar, Worli. The fire engulfed the mezzanine floor of the ground-plus-one building, damaging nearly 900 sq. ft. of storage area, including electrical goods, paper, makeup products, and a motorcycle.

Leading Fireman Ajindra Ganpat Sawant sustained a minor hand injury and was treated at Nair Hospital. The fire was extinguished within two and a half hours.

Fire Safety Warning

Authorities are urging commercial property owners to strengthen electrical safety systems and conduct regular inspections to avoid such hazards.
