Electric Water Taxi to Cut Mumbai-Navi Mumbai Travel to Just 40 Minutes

Mumbai’s traffic woes are set to ease as Maharashtra plans an electric water taxi connecting Gateway of India to Navi Mumbai International Airport. This eco-friendly ride will cut travel time to 40 minutes, offering a faster and greener alternative to roads.

The project moved ahead after a key meeting at Mantralaya, led by Minister Nitesh Rane, who urged quick construction of jetties and phased setup of terminals. The Airport Authority was asked to fast-track approvals.

Running on electric boats, the water taxi aligns with the state’s push for sustainable travel, promising a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable commute.

To support this, Maharashtra Maritime Board will build a jetty near the new airport, part of a bigger plan to connect Mumbai via road, rail, metro, and water.

This service will reduce road traffic, cut fuel use, and lower emissions, making daily travel between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai faster, smoother, and greener.
