The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned industrialist Anil Ambani for questioning on August 5 in connection with a case involving a fake bank guarantee worth ₹68.2 crore issued to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

The case revolves around a bogus bank guarantee allegedly issued by a shell company named Biswal Tradelink Pvt. Ltd., which claimed to represent a major financial institution. The fake document was used in a deal involving Reliance NUPower BESS Pvt Ltd, a company associated with the Anil Ambani group.

Investigators suspect the fake guarantee was issued in exchange for a commission and used spoofed websites and disappearing messages to execute the fraud and cover their tracks. The ED has already conducted raids in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata linked to the case.

In a separate case, Anil Ambani is also being probed for alleged irregularities involving loans worth ₹17,000 crore taken from various banks, including Yes Bank, between 2017 and 2019. The ED is investigating possible fund diversion, unsecured loans, and backdated approvals.

Ambani is expected to appear at the ED headquarters in Delhi on August 5, where he will be questioned about both the fake bank guarantee and the loan fraud allegations.

The investigations are part of a larger crackdown by the ED on financial crimes involving shell companies, forged documents, and money laundering. Multiple regulatory bodies including SEBI, RBI, and CBI have provided input into the ongoing probe.
