Mumbai : In a shocking incident, a drunk police constable identified as Amol Kishore Sapkale was arrested after allegedly misbehaving with women passengers in a Mumbai local train.

According to reports, Sapkale, posted with the Mira Bhayandar–Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate, boarded the Borivali–Vasai slow local train on Friday night while under the influence of alcohol. Shockingly, he entered the ladies’ coach at Mira Road station and began acting inappropriately, reportedly touching women passengers and staring at them in a vulgar manner.

Passengers say he claimed to be “on duty” and even snatched phones from those trying to record him. One woman managed to film the incident, and passengers forced him out of the compartment at Naigaon station, where he was handed over to the railway authorities.

A case has been registered under relevant sections for molestation and misconduct, and the Vasai Railway Police are investigating. His blood samples have been taken to confirm alcohol consumption, and his uniform and phone have been seized.

This disturbing case has triggered strong reactions, raising serious concerns about women’s safety on public transport and the abuse of power by uniformed personnel. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on disciplinary action against the constable.
