DOMBIVLI | The Dombivli police have solved a major gold chain snatching case, arresting three individuals and seizing stolen gold chains, a crude pistol, four cartridges, and a motorcycle worth ₹3,80,420.
On September 3, a 73-year-old woman fell victim to two motorcycle-borne thieves near Chamunda Society Gate in Thakurli, where her gold chain was snatched. Acting swiftly, the police team led by Deputy Police Commissioner Atul Zende, Assistant Police Commissioner Suhas Hemade, and Senior Police Inspector Ganesh Jawadwad examined 106 CCTV cameras to trace the culprits.
The arrested accused have been identified as Abhay Sunil Gupta (21), Abhishek Om Prakash Johari (32), and Arpit alias Prashant Avdhesh Shukla (27), all residents of Uttar Pradesh. Investigations revealed that the trio has a criminal background, with cases registered against them in Dombivli, Manpada, Pune, and Uttar Pradesh. Notably, Arpit alias Prashant is also facing a murder charge in Uttar Pradesh.
