Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Thursday and briefed him about the damages caused by heavy rains and subsequent floods in several districts, particularly Marathwada. He submitted a request letter seeking central assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), to which the Prime Minister assured full support for affected farmers in the state.
Fadnavis also presented a detailed proposal for the nomination of new Defence Corridors in Maharashtra. The suggested corridors include Pune–Ahilyanagar–Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Amravati–Wardha–Nagpur–Saoner, and Nashik–Dhule.
In addition, he requested the Centre’s support for reservation of areas under Section 17A(2) of the MMDR Act, 1957, along with relaxation of area limits for iron ore mining in Maharashtra. He emphasized that this would enable the production of cost-effective green steel in Gadchiroli, even cheaper than in China.
Fadnavis further sought the transfer of Airports Authority of India (AAI) land in Dahisar (East), Mumbai, and the relocation of the HF Receiving Station to free up prime land for urban development.
Highlighting Maharashtra’s progress on ease of doing business, Fadnavis shared updates on the state’s initiatives with PM Modi and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development.
