Mumbai : In a high-level review meeting held at the Ministry’s committee room, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed that the construction of the Thane District General Hospital be expedited and services be made available to the public as soon as possible. The hospital is expected to become a major healthcare lifeline for citizens of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Officials were instructed to begin the recruitment process for 1,078 new positions and ensure the latest medical equipment is procured swiftly.
The meeting also emphasized launching awareness and preventive screening campaigns for breast and uterine cancer among women. Health Minister Prakash Abitkar called for a thorough inspection of health centers across the state to assess their medicine and infrastructure requirements.
The meeting was attended by Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, Upper Chief Secretary of Deputy CM’s Program Asim Gupta, Chief Secretary Navin Sona, Health Secretary Nipun Vinayak, Finance Secretary A. Shaila, Health Commissioner Novel Balakwade, Thane Collector Ashok Shingare, and other key officials.
