Cut Your Traffic Challans Legally by 50% Through Lok Adalat: Here’s How

Share:

Mumbai : Motorists burdened by heavy traffic challans can now get up to 50% relief on fines through a legal process — by settling their cases in a Lok Adalat. This method requires no lawyer or court visit and is recognized across India.

How the process works:

Lok Adalats are organized by the State Legal Services Authorities and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

Vehicle owners can register online through their state’s legal service authority website by entering details like the vehicle number, challan number, and ID proof.

During the Lok Adalat session, a judicial officer and traffic police representative review minor violations such as helmet, seatbelt, or parking offenses.

If a mutual settlement is reached, fines are reduced by up to 50%, and payment can be made immediately via cash or UPI.

Once payment is done, the case is officially closed and a receipt is provided on the spot.

Who is eligible:
This benefit applies only to minor traffic offences. Major violations such as drunk driving, hit-and-run cases, or serious accidents are excluded.

Why it matters:
The Lok Adalat process offers a simple, fast, and legitimate way for citizens to clear pending challans at reduced rates, helping both drivers and traffic departments ease backlogs.
