Mumbai, 27 September 2025 :-Platform 18 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will remain closed for nearly three months from 1 October 2025 as part of the station’s large-scale redevelopment project.
The shutdown will allow structural upgrades and the installation of safety barricades under the ₹2,450-crore revamp being executed by the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA).
During this period, two express trains — the Amaravati–CSMT Express and the Ballarshah–CSMT Express — will instead terminate at Dadar.
The makeover plan includes extended decking, modernized waiting areas, food outlets, ticket counters, and a dedicated retail and entertainment concourse above the platforms.
Meanwhile, Platforms 12 and 13, which had been closed earlier for upgrades, are in their final stages of work. Non-interlocking tasks are almost complete, and the platforms may reopen soon once safety approvals are secured.
Passenger associations have raised concerns that nearly 1 lakh daily commuters who rely on Platform 18 will face significant inconvenience during the closure.
