Kalyan-Dombivli has reported a fresh COVID-19 fatality, reviving public concern in an area that was once among Maharashtra’s major pandemic hotspots. According to Deputy Commissioner of Health Prasad Borkar, one person has died from the virus, while three others are currently receiving treatment.
The recent cases come after a long period of low infection rates, raising fears of a potential resurgence. In response, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has begun reactivating precautionary measures. Isolation wards have been reopened at Rukminibai Hospital in Kalyan and Shastrinagar Hospital in Dombivli. COVID-19 testing facilities are also set to resume operations from tomorrow.
Health authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant. People are advised to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. The KDMC has also appealed for cooperation from citizens to prevent a wider outbreak.
