Complaint Filed Against Raj Thackeray Over ‘Hate Speech’ at Worli Rally

Mumbai : A legal complaint has been filed against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for allegedly making an inflammatory remark during his recent speech at the Worli Dome rally.

During the July 10 event, Thackeray allegedly told his supporters, “Don’t record videos while beating,” which critics say incites violence and promotes lawlessness. The comment sparked outrage, with several legal professionals filing a complaint seeking action under the National Security Act (NSA).

Three Bombay High Court lawyers have accused Thackeray of spreading hate in the name of Marathi identity and endangering public harmony. The rally, held to oppose the trilingual policy and assert Marathi pride, saw Raj Thackeray share the stage with cousin Uddhav Thackeray for the first time in nearly two decades.

The complainants have also alleged that physical attacks occurred in Mumbai’s Powai and Versova areas following Thackeray’s remarks. They have urged authorities to take legal action and consider derecognizing MNS as a political party.

Raj Thackeray has since issued a social media clarification, expressing regret over the controversy.
