Mumbai : The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 2.178 kg of cocaine, valued at around ₹21.78 crore, from Mumbai International Airport. The drugs were ingeniously hidden inside dates, with traffickers removing seeds and filling the cavities with the narcotic.
A passenger arriving from Sierra Leone and another person who came to receive the consignment were arrested. Both have been booked under the NDPS Act and remanded to custody.

Officials said the bust highlights a new method of drug smuggling using food items to evade security checks. Surveillance on such consignments is expected to be intensified.
