Mumbai : The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is expected to reduce the prices of its housing units by ₹1.5 to ₹2 lakh following a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde.
The move aims to provide relief to middle-class homebuyers who have raised concerns over the rising cost of CIDCO houses. According to reports, homes that initially cost around ₹35 lakh during construction were being sold for ₹75 to ₹96 lakh — nearly double the expected rate.
Today’s meeting, led by Shinde, focused on making CIDCO homes genuinely affordable for the public and ensuring that the government’s housing mission remains accessible to common citizens.
Officials stated that the final decision on the price revision is expected soon, offering hope to thousands of buyers awaiting affordable housing under CIDCO’s various schemes.
