Mumbai, May 30, 2025 — As the first anniversary of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections nears, the Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association (CCWA) has urged local MP Varsha Gaikwad to deliver a progress report on the promises she made during her campaign.
In a formal letter sent Thursday, residents requested an update on the “Chandivali Cha Manifesto” — a citizen-drafted charter presented to all candidates last year. Despite Gaikwad’s continued public advocacy, locals say multiple follow-up requests for a meeting have gone unanswered.
Key demands in the manifesto include:
•Action against air pollution from illegal bhattis and concrete plants
•Upgradation of the local fire station
•Removal of footpath encroachments
•Stopping misuse of public spaces
•Completion of the 90-feet road linking Chandivali Farm Road to JVLR
Residents also urged Gaikwad to take these matters up with the BMC, MPCB, and MMRDA to ensure real progress.
“A year ago, we submitted this charter to both major candidates,” said Mandeep Singh Makkar, a CCWA representative. “Now, with no municipal corporators in place, our MP must become our voice.”
The Chandivali Cha Manifesto, launched in April 2024, was acknowledged by both Gaikwad and her NDA rival, Ujjwal Nikam. The document focused on pollution control, infrastructure, public safety, and basic civic amenities.
As May 20 approaches, Chandivali residents await a clear response—and concrete action—from their elected representative.
