Mumbai : The grand arrival of the Kalachowki Cha Mahaganpati idol in Mumbai turned controversial on Sunday, August 3, as five youths were booked for flying drones despite an official ban.

The incident took place near Rejoice Hotel in Parel, where the accused were reportedly trying to capture aerial footage of the Ganesh Chaturthi procession. However, due to security concerns and large crowds, drone flying had been strictly prohibited in the area. Three drones were seized by the Kalachowki Police, and a case has been registered against the offenders.

The festive procession, which drew huge crowds along the Lalbaug–Parel route, featured vibrant dhol-tasha performances, devotional chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” and a beautifully decorated idol of Lord Ganesha in the form of Lord Shiva.

While the celebration reflected the city’s devotion and festive spirit, the drone violation raised serious safety concerns. Police have stated that further investigation is ongoing.
