Mumbai: Panic gripped the Bandra Family Court in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Thursday evening after officials received a threatening email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the premises.
According to police, the email arrived around 4:30 p.m. on the court’s official ID. The message alleged that a bomb was hidden inside the BKC Family Court building. Upon receiving the alert, officers from the BKC Police Station and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the site, evacuated the area, and carried out an extensive search. However, no explosives or suspicious materials were found.
The email also mentioned a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case against S.V. Shekhar, claiming that it was politically influenced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The sender demanded that the case be transferred out of Chennai, alleging judicial and political pressure behind the charges.
Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email and are working to identify the sender through the IP address. Police said appropriate legal action will be taken once the culprit is identified.
