BMC Partners With Indian Army To Provide Free Sailing Training To Students

Mumbai: In a significant initiative to promote sports at the international level, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has signed an agreement with the Indian Army’s Boating (Yoting) Department to provide free sailing training to students studying in BMC schools. The program aims to prepare students for Olympic, Asian, and other international competitions.

Under this initiative, 30 students who have shown passion for sailing and fulfilled the required criteria have been selected for specialized training.

The training program was officially launched in the presence of Additional Municipal Commissioner (East Suburbs), Dr. Amit Saini, at Birla Krida Bhavan, Swarajyabhoomi (Girgaon Chowpatty).

The event was also attended by Deputy Commissioner (Education) Dr. Prachi Jambhekar, Assistant Commissioner of D Division Manish Valanju, Colonel Amey Humnabadkar, Colonel Anand, and other dignitaries.

This collaboration marks a major step towards nurturing young talent in sailing and encouraging participation in global sporting events.
