Mumbai : In a move to bring transparency to its ambitious “Pothole-Free Mumbai” mission, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rolled out a digital dashboard that allows citizens to monitor the progress of cement-concrete roadworks across the city.
The one-click facility, available on the BMC’s official website under “For Citizens → Check Status → Mega CC Road Works Progress,” displays real-time updates on each project. Residents can check which roads are fully completed, which are under construction, and which will begin after the monsoon, starting October 1.
Out of 2,121 roads covering nearly 699 km under Phases 1 and 2 of the project:
771 roads (186 km) are fully completed,
574 roads (157 km) are partially done,
776 roads (209 km) are scheduled for post-monsoon work.
BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said the portal aims to reduce inconvenience to the public and improve accountability. Additional Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar added that the civic body is committed to quality and timely completion.
To ensure high standards, IIT-Bombay has been appointed as the independent quality-control authority for the project, which is expected to make Mumbai’s roads safer, longer-lasting, and free of potholes.
