BMC Announces ₹31,000 Diwali Bonus for Officers, Teachers, and Staff

Mumbai, October 16, 2025: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a Diwali bonus of ₹31,000 for its officers, employees, teachers, and non-teaching staff. The decision, approved by Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, comes as a festive gesture to boost employee morale ahead of Diwali.

Beneficiaries of the Bonus

The ₹31,000 “Sanugrah Anudan” (gratuity grant) will be given to:

BMC officers and employees

Teachers and non-teaching staff in BMC-run and aided primary schools

Secondary school teachers and employees of aided and unaided institutions

Teaching staff of ‘Adhyapak Vidyalayas’ and other full-time educational employees

Gifts for Other Workers

In addition to the bonus, BMC has also announced special Diwali gifts for other categories:

Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) will receive a ₹14,000 “Bhau Beej” gift

Anganwadi teachers and assistants will receive gifts worth ₹5,000

The move has been warmly welcomed by civic unions and educators, who described it as a morale-boosting gesture for thousands of municipal employees across Mumbai.
