Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is expediting multiple infrastructure projects including bridges, flyovers, and skywalks to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the city.
Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar on Wednesday inspected ongoing works such as the Bandra–Dharavi flyover, bridges at Worli’s E Moses Marg and Annie Besant Marg, and the Bandra skywalk project.
As part of the Mithi river widening project, the Bandra–Dharavi bridge is being reconstructed in two phases. The first phase, now 90% complete, is expected to finish by November 30, 2025. Work on the second bridge will begin soon with an 18-month deadline.

At Worli, the new bridge alignment will directly link major routes, reducing traffic pressure in Worli Naka, Mahalaxmi, and Lower Parel areas. The project is targeted for completion by December 2026.
Meanwhile, nearly 80% of the Bandra railway station–MHADA skywalk is finished. BMC aims to open it for public use by December 31, 2025, as per High Court directions.
Bangar has directed officials to speed up the remaining works, ensuring timely completion without delays, promising smoother, faster, and safer travel for Mumbai citizens.
