Mumbai : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Shraddha Raje Bhosale, a member of the Sawantwadi royal family, as its official candidate for the post of Sawantwadi Nagaradhyaksha (Municipal Chairperson).
Bhosale filed three nomination forms, signaling strong backing from senior BJP leaders despite internal interest from other contenders. Her selection is said to have the support of top state leaders, including Ravindra Chavan and Rahul Narvekar.
Her entry into the race has generated significant attention due to her royal lineage and growing public appeal. Often referred to as the “Princess of Sawantwadi,” Bhosale’s move into active politics is seen as a blend of heritage and modern leadership.
The announcement comes amid an intense election atmosphere in Sawantwadi, where over a hundred candidates have submitted nominations for various positions. With Bhosale now in the fray, the mayoral contest is expected to become even more competitive as the BJP aims to strengthen its hold in the region.
