Mumbai : On Saturday evening, August 9, 2025, the Bhim Sainik Sangathan organized a peaceful march near Swaminarayan Temple by Dadar Station (East) in Mumbai to protest against the recently enacted Public Security Act, passed by the Maharashtra Assembly. The protest was also aimed at demanding an immediate ban on the controversial play Sannyast Khadg .
In a public statement, the organization condemned the new law, describing it as a severe attack on citizens’ fundamental rights, including freedom of expression and privacy. They criticized it as being contrary to the core principles of the Constitution, asserting that it effectively grants the government the power to suppress ordinary voices. “This Act poses a danger to democracy. We will not accept it at any cost,” stated the group’s spokesperson .
Overall, the Bhim Sainik Sangathan’s rally reflects mounting concerns among civil society over what they perceive as increasing encroachments on democratic freedoms under the guise of security legislation.
