Bhayander, June 23, 2025 — In a shocking case that has sent ripples through the local community, a 50-year-old private tutor in Bhayander, Thane district, has been arrested for allegedly physically assaulting multiple 17-year-old girl students during private tuition sessions.
The matter came to light after the students confided in their parents about repeated instances of abuse. Troubled by the revelations, the families approached Kashimira Police Station in Bhayander West and lodged formal complaints against the tutor.
Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and apprehended the accused. He has been charged under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those pertaining to assault or criminal force with intent to outrage a woman’s modesty.
According to officials, the assaults reportedly occurred during one-on-one sessions in the tutor’s home-based classroom setup. Investigators believe the accused may have targeted other students as well and are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage among parents and educators in the area. Many are now calling for stricter vetting of private tutors and better regulatory mechanisms for informal coaching centers, especially those dealing with minors.
Local education activists emphasized the urgent need for parents to remain vigilant and maintain open lines of communication with their children about their experiences in such settings.
Police have confirmed that the accused remains in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities have also assured the public that the matter will be handled with full seriousness, and that the rights and safety of the victims will be prioritized throughout the legal proceedings.
