Mumbai : Residents of Bharat Nagar have appealed to MLA Varun Sardesai to obtain a formal written commitment from the MHADA CEO confirming that the locality’s redevelopment will proceed under the MHADA 33/5 scheme for MHADA tenants, as per the 2018 Gazette.
While appreciating Sardesai’s recent meeting with MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjiv Jaiswal and Chief Officer Milind Borikar, residents expressed concerns that verbal assurances and letters in the past — including efforts by MP Varsha Gaikwad — have failed to produce tangible results.
They stressed that a written reply from the MHADA CEO is crucial to ensure clarity, protect tenant rights, address delays, and counter opposition to SRA 33/10 projects, thereby paving the way for redevelopment of the remaining areas of Bharat Nagar.
