In a dramatic turn of events in the Beed district of Maharashtra, Dnyaneshwari Munde, wife of murdered businessman Mahadev Munde, attempted suicide by consuming poison in protest against the authorities’ failure to arrest her husband’s killers, even after 18 months of the crime.
The incident took place outside the Beed Collector’s Office, where Dnyaneshwari had been staging a protest demanding justice. Despite multiple complaints and appeals to the police, no arrests have been made since Mahadev Munde was brutally murdered in 2023. Frustrated by the lack of progress and the alleged protection being given to the accused, Dnyaneshwari took the extreme step as a form of protest.
She had earlier issued several warnings, urging the administration to either arrest the accused or hand over the case to the CID. Local police, however, failed to act decisively, prompting her to take the drastic step.
Following her collapse, Dnyaneshwari was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her condition remains critical.
The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many expressing solidarity with the Munde family and demanding immediate action from law enforcement agencies. Pressure is now mounting on the authorities to arrest the culprits and ensure a fair investigation.
The case has highlighted growing concerns over delayed justice and the failure of law enforcement in sensitive cases involving powerful individuals.
