Mumbai :-
Aurionpro Solutions, in collaboration with the Indian Chess School, is all set to host the Aurionpro International Grandmaster Chess Tournament at the World Trade Centre (WTC), Mumbai. Scheduled from June 16 to June 24, the nine-day event will unfold in the WTC’s expansive 25,000 sq. ft. venue, promising one of the most anticipated chess spectacles of the year.
The tournament will see participation from Grandmasters representing 19 countries, competing across four youth categories: Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, and Under-13. With a total prize fund of ₹40 lakh, the event positions itself among India’s highest-paying and most prestigious youth chess tournaments, setting a new benchmark for international chess competitions held in the country.
Aurionpro’s initiative, alongside the Indian Chess School, is driven by a vision to promote chess at the grassroots level and to cultivate the next generation of international champions from India. By offering free entry and accommodation for all participants, the organisers aim to create a level playing field that provides talented players from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds the chance to shine on a global stage.
Beyond financial incentives, the tournament’s true value lies in its commitment to fostering strategic thinking, discipline, and competitive experience among young minds. The presence of international players adds a layer of exposure and challenge, helping Indian participants assess their skills against global standards.
Ahead of the tournament, a Mascot and Trophy Unveiling Ceremony was held in Mumbai to set the stage for the event. In attendance were several dignitaries and chess personalities, including Sagar Shah, Ninad Kelkar (Company Secretary, Aurionpro), Aakruti Bagwe (Director, WTC), Pravin Thipsay (Arjuna Awardee), Sachin Salian (Chief Marketing Officer, Aurionpro), Praful Zaveri (Founder, Indian Chess School), and Manisha Mohite (Public Relations Officer).
As anticipation builds, the Aurionpro International Grandmaster Chess Tournament is not only poised to become a landmark in India’s chess calendar but also to emerge as a launching pad for tomorrow’s global champions.
